The Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Unit coordinates several clinical trials focused on nutritional support in patients with cancer. Current research activities include the use of immunonutrition in head and neck and lung cancer, immunonutrition in patients undergoing radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, nutritional support in gynecological cancers, 
and the evaluation of nutritional risk and body composition as prognostic factors. The Unit is also involved in research activities aimed at developing innovative artificial intelligence–based technologies to optimize the identification and management of nutritional risk in hospitalized patient.

Together with the Oncology Unit, our Team is coordinating the Intersociety (AIOM-SINPE-FAVO-SICO-ASAND-AIRO-FNOPI)  Italian Working Group for Nutritional Support in Cancer Patients and the Survivorship Care & Nutritional Support Working Group of Alliance Against Cancer (ACC). It is also collaborating with the Gruppo Italiano per il Trapianto di Midollo Osseo (GITMO) and the Cellular Therapy and Immunobiology Working Party (CTIWP) and the Nurses Group (NG) of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). Our Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Unit is an Hub center of Regione Lombardia with regards to Nutrition in Oncology, Short Bowel Syndrome and Artificial Nutrition.
